What is an Escape Room / Game?
The Lincoln Escape Room is Lincoln’s premier escape experience. This is a truly unique and interactive entertainment activity where you and up to 11 friends or strangers are placed in a room with only 60 minutes to escape or complete the challenge. How long does the game take?
Following a brief safety and instructional introduction, you will have exactly 60 minutes to complete the challenge and escape.
Is there an age limit to attend?
There is no age limit, but we recommend our games to participants 10 and up, as the challenges tend to be more difficult for younger audiences. Participants who are under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign the safety waiver for the underage participant. Participants who are under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Any booking that includes a participant under the age of 12 must be marked as private. We have this rule in place for the safety of minors in case they are paired with another group of adults in our rooms.
All seats are priced the same but Children 7 and under get in free with a paying adult.
Will I be playing the game with other guests?
We sell up to the allowed number of seats in each room. You are welcome to make your room private by paying a 5-dollar fee per unused seat. Otherwise, it is possible that you will be playing with strangers. Don’t worry, though; this can actually make the experience much more exciting and fun!
How far in advance do I need to book a room?
Anyone can access our calendar of availability at any time, and bookings can be made up to 2 hours prior to the game’s start time. Walk-ins are accepted depending on availability, though we encourage guests to book online in order to secure your room.
Weekends tend to fill up quicker than weekdays, so we recommend making those bookings at least one-to-two weeks in advance. For bookings near holidays, we recommend booking a month in advance.
How early do I need to arrive for my booking?
We ask that your entire group arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled ticket time in order to sign in and listen to our tips and safety speech.
Is a waiver required?
Yes. In order for anyone to participate, a waiver must be signed prior to entering the room. The waiver can be signed at any time prior to the start of the game and can be accessed via computer, smartphone or tablet. It can be found via the ‘Waiver’ tab in the top right corner of our webpage or from any browser at this link: ersign.com/li
If you have signed a waiver with our location before, you do not need to sign one a second time.
If I’m late, can I still participate?
If you arrive after we have started the game, we cannot allow you inside the room. This would disrupt the game for the participating players and interfere with scheduling. No refunds will be offered for late arrivals or no-shows. We ask that participants arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled start time to ensure the schedule stays on track. Escape Room is not responsible for misread booking details or inability to locate the facility. If you did not receive a confirmation email after booking, please contact us.
What is your cancellation policy?
No refunds on cancellations will be given within 24 hours prior to the booking. A reschedule may be provided upon request at the manager’s discretion.
What is a customer account and how do I make one?
A customer account is a personal account within our booking software that allows you to view and manage existing bookings, create new ones, access store credit, and manage your contact details. Creating a customer account is not required unless you want to use store credit. To set up an account using your existing booking information, visit https://bookeo.com/lincolnescaperoom/customer and enter your email address, then select “forgot my password” to reset. To set up a new account, visit https://bookeo.com/lincolnescaperoom/signup. This service is free to use, and you can delete your account whenever you want.
Will I actually be locked in the room for the entire game?
Yes and no; you will be required to stay inside the room for the entire experience with the exception of an emergency situation. You are not actually ‘locked’ in the room, but the door is held shut with a powerful magnet. If anyone needs to exit the room for an emergency, there is an exit button next to the door that allows you to do so. Pressing the button will release the magnet’s hold and stop the game clock. Pressing it for anything other than an emergency will disqualify your team. We strongly encourage participants to use the restroom before starting your game, as you will not be allowed to leave until you escape or the time runs out.
Are the rooms scary?
That depends on your/your group’s level of fearlessness! Some of our rooms are not scary at all and are appropriate for any age group. Some of our other rooms include some frightening elements that may not be appropriate for all audiences. Scary elements that may be included in certain rooms can possibly consist of dim lighting, frightening props or imagery, sound effects, and startling puzzle-activated animatronics. Can our group receive hints?
Hints are a luxury and only given out at our game master’s discretion. You will be monitored by security cameras throughout the game for your safety and to keep our game masters aware of your progress. If it appears that you are far off track or low on time, you may possibly receive a hint to keep you moving in the right direction. There is a tv monitor in every room that can display a hint– if your game master decides to send one. Asking for additional clues will not necessarily grant you any.
Do you have any tips/suggestions?
Check out our tips here. You would be surprised to hear some of the silly things some of our guests have attempted in order to escape. Our puzzles don’t require substantial physical ability or force– they are mental challenges that require wit and teamwork. Pay attention to the instruction given prior to starting, and use common sense! Cheating and tampering with our equipment to hinder its functionality is cause for disqualification. If something is too heavy, not within reach, nailed, screwed, taped, or tightly secured in place– don’t try to move/remove it! There are no clues behind our vents, ceiling tiles, or fuse boxes, we promise!
Do the rooms ever change?
Yes, but not frequently. For example, if you participate in a challenge and return to try the same challenge the following week, the room and puzzles included in it will likely not have changed at all. Puzzles within a certain room may change over time, but the overall layout and process of finding clues will not change until the entire theme is retired. The room themes change every 8-12 months or so, depending on the popularity of the room. Theme changes and new rooms will be announced on our social media pages and updated on our website. Escape statistics from previous rooms will remain on our website for past participants to view.
Do you offer any discounts or promotions?
Yes! We have a 10% off discount for any member of the U.S. military. A military I.D. must be shown at checkout in order to receive the discount. You can view any current promotions on our homepage, and check out contests or social media promotions on our facebook page. Birthday tickets are half price if the guest is within 3 days of their birthday.
What if we have more players than a room’s listed capacity?
In certain cases, we will allow groups to add additional players to the game, however, this is not something we encourage. Our maximum capacity limitations are estimated by testing how many people can comfortably play and still be able to participate with the rest of the group. If you would like to book a room that has a lower capacity than your group size, give us a call or fill out a request on our contact page.
If your group has far more players than what can fit in a room, you will likely need to be separated into multiple rooms. (See next question)
How do I set up a booking for a large group or party?
If your group has more than 12 participants, you can fill out a Large Group Booking Request form, and we will respond to your request via email. Simply submitting the form does not secure your booking; you must receive a confirmation from us first.
Our facility can hold up to 43 participants at one time. If your group is larger than that, we can set up multiple game sessions to allow everyone a chance to participate. Read up on our large group booking procedures here. All large group bookings that include multiple rooms require a deposit of $150 plus tax in order to secure your reservation.
Do you have a private party room or meeting space?
We do not have any private room set aside for parties or meetings. Our lobby space is strictly a waiting area during regular business hours, but if you book the facility for a private event, we can allow you to set up a table and/or chairs in our lobby. Other than our current lobby seating, we do not provide these items.
If you would like to block off the entire facility during business hours to allow time for a dinner or meeting, you have the option to do so for a fee. $150 can give you an hour and a half on a Monday through Thursday, and $250 can give you an hour and a half on a Friday through the weekend.
Do you provide food and drink/alcohol?
Lincoln Escape Room is a family-friendly business, therefore we do not offer nor allow outside alcoholic beverages inside the facility within our regular business hours. We neither cater nor provide food, however, soda and candy are available for $1, and water from our cooler is free for customers. Contact us if you have more questions about outside food and drink.
If your group wants to grab a bite to eat before or after your game, we recommend one of the nearby businesses; The Warm Cookie, Shogun, or Blue Blood Brewery. Please plan restaurant reservations accordingly, as to not interfere with your scheduled booking time.
